Here are some cars that can be unlocked and how:

Gold car: defeat the all cup tour on mirror ode

Pipe car: unlock petey pihrahna and king boo. Unlocking them: beat the 150cc modes

Toad's car: unlock by unlocking toad and toadette. Unlocking toadette and toad: bet the 100cc special cup.

Mario Kart Double Dash cheats

More vehicles:beat any cup on any difficulty to unlock another kart. Do all cups on all difficulties to get them all.
Toad and Toadette duo:beat Flower cup on 100cc
Petey Piranha and King Boo duo:beat Star cup on Mirror cc
Golden parade kart:beat All cup tour on Mirror cc
Different title screen:beat all cups, on all cc's and all difficulties.

Dodge blue shells.

Right now THIS is HARD,but can be done.When a blue shell is chasing you(you need a mushroom or 2 or 3) boost with your mushroom/s and powerslide(power boosting is highly recommended) and with a HUGE amount of luck you'll make it.

PS. Use a star or save it if want as blue shells will just break if they hit you when you're invincible. This also works with red shells.

Dodge red shells

To dodge red shells:
when you are coming up to a sharp turn powerslide and turn your flame to blue and as you are turning use the power boost and powerslide again(no need to boost this time)and with a little luck it will miss.

On a straight this is harder,when it is almost going to hit you power boost one way and then the other way.With a little luck it will miss. On this situation mind you may find it tricky at first to turn your powerslide flame from orange to blue in less than 2 seconds without turning too far into the direction you're powersliding in.

Tiny space on Mushroom City

You should have a mushroom or star to do this. You know the place where you go through the street of cars and then go to the finish line, well if you keep going straight then you will be riding on a tiny space.

It will help you more if you have a tiny car and if you have a mushroom, this is a good place to go so you dont crash into cars.

Down through Yoshis spine

You must have a mushroom or a star to do this.

After you get out of the tunnel you will see Nintendo signs on your left side. Then there will be no rail. There will be a grass patch that looks like a jump. Go off it with a star or mushroom at the right angle and you will be in a tunnel.

Then you will pop out and you should be in a better place. (this cheat works I have used it many times and it works great)

To get Speacial Cup,finish 1st on 100cc Star Cup.To get All Cup Tour,finish 150cc Speacial Cup.

To get the one,and only Mirror Mode,finish 1st on 150cc All Cup Tour.

NOW it is time for SECRET CHARACTERS!!!To unlock Toad and Toadette,finish 1st on 100cc Speacial Cup.To unlock Petey Pirahna and King Boo,finish Mirror Mode Star Cup With a first place win.

The best thing About Petey Pirahna and King Boo is that they can use EVERY speacial attack depending on their place.

Oh yeah,To unlock the best cart of all,the Parade kart,finish 1st on Mirror Mode All Cup Tour.

Special Cup

To get the Special Cup beat Mushroom, Flower and Star cups in 50cc and 100cc.

There are great tracks on this cup.

Use the Golden Kart you see when you get a trophy

Do you want that gold car you see when you get a gold trophy?

Complete Mirror Mode on all cups in gold. Oh yeah one more thing. Once this is done the game is complete so let me say this.

TILT-A-KART MODE

Win Flower Cup Mirror Mode and you can unlock TILT-A-KART.

A new battle mode stage (shows a pic of Mario jumping... from the first mario game made...)

GREEN PIPE

Ok now this isn't the best cheat in the world or anything but it's pretty neat.On the level Peach Beach when you first get started keep going until the first turn,but do NOT go right!Turn left and you should see a green pipe.Go inside of it and you should get shot out and you will get a double box.
(NOTE)There are only four of these in the whole level so....START YOUR ENGINES!

Never fall off

If you want to be stable and not fall of the bridge on the donkey kong level near the finish post do this.If you are falling to the right of the bridge click the L button and if you fall to the left click the R button. Good Luck!!!!!

Staff Ghosts

Beating the staff ghosts doesn't earn you anything, but it does give you something to brag about. If you beat the time, you will unlock the staff ghost. After the time is the driver/passenger "kart". I don't know the times it takes them to go around the track.

To get better times in time trial mode use mini boosts ALL THE TIME!

Beat all cup tour on 150cc.

mini boosts

Mini boost: On any turn, drift (hold L or R while turning) now, using the control stick, and still holding L or R, go left to right the sparks turn red.

Now go left right again the sparks turn blue.

Release L or R. youl get a small but fast speed boost....

Boost

To get a boost at the start of the race tap the A button when the 3 2 1 is counting down.
